Your Role:

As a Accounts Receivable Officer, you will:

• Debtors Ledger & Collections Execution: Manage daily debt collection activities across employer, business, and individual accounts to achieve cash flow targets and reduce aged balances.
• Direct Debit & Automated Receipting: Oversee and maintain the direct debit collection platform, reconciling automated customer payment files and encouraging digital settlement adoption.
• General Ledger & Control Account Reconciliation: Perform month-end reconciliations of the debtors ledger, aged trial balance, suspense accounts, and clearing accounts back to the general ledger, analyzing root causes for aged debt.
• Customer Master Data Management: Maintain customer master records, verify billing details, and update credit profiles in adherence to internal financial controls, approvals, and privacy standards.
• Dispute Resolution & Stakeholder Support: Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, unallocated receipts, and customer inquiries within agreed service levels.
• Audit & Month-End Support: Support month-end close schedules, internal/external audit requests, system enhancement testing, and continuous process automation initiatives.

What You Need:

Non-negotiables

• Accounts Receivable Experience: Minimum of 2 years of B2B accounts receivable, debtor management, or collections experience within a medium-to-large corporate shared-services setting.
• Tertiary Accounting/Finance Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a closely related discipline.
• Ledger & Control Account Reconciliations: Proven capability in reconciling debtors ledgers, aging profiles, clearing accounts, and suspense balances to the general ledger.
• Credit Risk & Fraud Control Awareness: Practical understanding of credit risk controls, delegated authorities, segregation of duties, and fraud detection indicators.
• MS Excel Proficiency: Strong skills in MS Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data matching) for complex ledger analysis and report compilation.

Preferred skills/expertise

• Prior exposure to the financial services, salary packaging, or corporate employee benefits sectors.
• Experience operating automated direct debit collection platforms and enterprise ERP billing modules.
• Familiarity with Australian credit and debt collection regulatory standards and privacy laws.
• Proven track record in identifying workflow bottlenecks and suggesting automation or system optimizations.
