DCES After-School Care Supervisor

Location: Delphi Community Elementary School
Schedule: School Days, 2:45–6:00 p.m.

Reports To: Building Principal

Position Summary

The After-School Care Supervisor provides a safe, positive, and structured environment for elementary students participating in the district's after-school care program. This position is responsible for supervising students, providing age-appropriate activities, assisting with snacks and homework, and ensuring students are safely released to authorized adults.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision of elementary students from dismissal through parent/guardian pick-up.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for all students.
• Take and maintain accurate student attendance.
• Verify students are released only to authorized individuals according to program procedures.
• Supervise and engage students in age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, reading, homework, and recreational activities.
• Assist with the distribution of snacks and maintain appropriate cleanliness of program areas.
• Establish and consistently enforce appropriate behavioral expectations.
• Respond appropriately to student needs, minor injuries, behavioral concerns, and other situations that may arise.
• Communicate professionally with parents/guardians and school personnel.
• Follow all school corporation policies, procedures, emergency protocols, and student confidentiality requirements.
• Ensure program areas are organized and appropriately cleaned before leaving each evening.
• Immediately report significant student, safety, behavioral, or parent concerns to the appropriate administrator.
• Perform other duties related to the after-school program as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
• Ability to effectively supervise and manage groups of children.
• Dependable and able to consistently work the required schedule.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during unexpected situations.
• Must successfully complete all school corporation employment requirements, including required background checks.

Work Schedule

The regular schedule is 2:45–6:00 p.m. on student school days. Employees must be available to remain until all students have been picked up and program closing responsibilities have been completed.

Expectations

After-School Care Supervisors are expected to provide consistent, attentive supervision and serve as positive role models for students. Student safety is the highest priority. Personal cell phone use should be limited while supervising students, and students should remain within the direct supervision of program staff at all times.
