Job description

We are an organisation of around 700 colleagues that has grown rapidly and continues to evolve in response to expanding responsibilities, emerging priorities and a changing external environment.

As the organisation has grown, structures, processes, services and ways of working have organically developed to support delivery. We are now seeking an experienced Business Architect on an interim basis for an initial six-month assignment to help us take a more organisation-wide view of how we need to operate in the future.

Working closely with senior leaders, the Business Architect will lead the development and maintenance of our Target Operating Model (TOM), helping to shape the organisational capabilities, services, governance, operating arrangements and enabling functions required to deliver our strategic ambitions.

Person specification

The role will bring together service design, organisation design, capability development, technology enablement and change delivery into a coherent enterprise view, helping the organisation identify key strategic design decisions, understand dependencies and trade-offs, and develop a practical roadmap for change over the next two to three years.

Working through a matrix model, the Business Architect will oversee and coordinate a virtual team of specialists from across the organisation, bringing together expertise from multiple disciplines to support enterprise-wide design and decision-making

This role will suit someone who has successfully worked in complex and evolving environments, is comfortable operating with ambiguity, and has experience establishing architecture, governance and design disciplines within growing organisations.

Success in this role will depend as much on influencing senior stakeholders, facilitating strategic decisions, building organisational understanding and demonstrating practical value as it will on producing architecture artefacts.

Benefits

  • Learning and development tailored to your role
  • An environment with flexible working options
  • A culture encouraging inclusion and diversity
  • A Civil Service pension
