Description
Commercial Lighting Sales Support Specialist
Location: Remote in United States - Preference for candidates located in Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones
Our client is a growing organization in the commercial lighting industry seeking a knowledgeable, customer-focused professional to help drive project success and strengthen relationships with its sales network. This opportunity combines commercial lighting expertise, technical problem-solving, and hands-on sales support. Working directly with outside sales professionals and independent representative agencies, you will help customers select the right lighting solutions, navigate product and application questions, and advance projects from initial inquiry through order placement.
The ideal candidate enjoys being a trusted technical resource, building relationships, and finding practical solutions that help sales teams win business. This is a technical inside sales support position rather than a traditional outbound sales or prospecting role.
This Role Offers:
- Competitive base compensation based on experience, with a performance-based bonus opportunity.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, and additional insurance options.
- 401(k) with company match, paid vacation, and additional voluntary benefits.
- Opportunity to expand technical expertise in commercial lighting, including lighting controls and integrated solutions.
- Collaborative role with meaningful exposure to outside sales teams, agency partners, and commercial lighting projects.
Focus:
- Provide technical inside sales support to outside sales professionals and representative agencies, responding to product, application, and project questions through phone and email communication.
- Guide sales partners through commercial lighting product selection, fixture specifications, application requirements, and suitable alternatives to help advance customer opportunities.
- Explain lighting controls, dimming options, and fixture compatibility, identifying opportunities to incorporate appropriate controls into commercial lighting packages.
- Address routine product troubleshooting and application concerns while coordinating with internal technical resources to resolve more complex questions.
- Educate agency partners on lighting products, available solutions, website resources, and sales tools to strengthen their product knowledge and customer support capabilities.
- Prepare and manage quotations, lighting takeoffs, bills of materials (BOMs), product crossovers, and pricing recommendations using project documentation, specifications, and fixture schedules.
- Support order processing, shipment inquiries, project documentation, and internal coordination to maintain accurate information and keep commercial lighting projects moving forward.
Skill Set:
- Commercial lighting industry experience is required, preferably within lighting manufacturing, distribution, representative agencies, electrical supply, or a related environment.
- Strong understanding of commercial lighting fixtures, product applications, specifications, and the ability to interpret lighting schedules or electrical drawings.
- Experience with technical sales support, quotations, product selection, lighting takeoffs, bills of materials, pricing, or order management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and provide responsive phone and email support.
- Familiarity with lighting controls, dimming systems, and fixture compatibility is preferred, including the ability to communicate controls benefits and recognize opportunities to include them in fixture packages. Deep controls expertise is not required.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple project requests, address routine technical issues, and collaborate effectively with sales and technical teams.
- Experience with ERP or CRM platforms is beneficial. Exposure to shop drawings, Bluebeam, CAD, or similar documentation tools is a plus, with opportunities to develop these capabilities.
