About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic General Manager – Quality to lead and oversee quality, technical, and compliance functions across multiple manufacturing facilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving end-to-end quality excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing buyer requirements, strengthening supplier quality, building technical capabilities, and implementing world-class quality systems across the organization. This role requires a strong leader with extensive exposure to woven garments, garment construction, and multi-factory quality management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Quality Governance

• Develop and implement the overall quality strategy across all manufacturing facilities.
• Lead quality transformation initiatives to improve product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
• Identify quality risks and establish preventive and corrective action frameworks.
• Drive a culture of quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
• Provide strategic guidance to plant quality teams and technical departments.

Multi-Factory Quality Management

• Oversee quality operations across multiple factories to ensure alignment with company and customer standards.
• Standardize quality systems, procedures, and reporting frameworks across all production locations.
• Monitor factory quality performance through audits, KPI reviews, and quality metrics.
• Ensure consistent implementation of quality standards across all manufacturing facilities.
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of recurring quality issues.

Technical & Garment Quality Management

• Ensure compliance with buyer specifications, garment construction standards, measurement requirements, and workmanship expectations.
• Provide technical leadership on woven garment manufacturing, stitching processes, garment construction, and product quality.
• Drive improvements in fit, sewing quality, finishing, packaging, and overall product performance.
• Oversee sample room quality processes and ensure compliance with established protocols prior to buyer submissions.

Customer & Buyer Management

• Build strong relationships with international buyers and customers.
• Manage customer audits, technical reviews, and quality discussions.
• Support timely resolution of customer concerns, claims, and quality-related issues.
• Enhance customer confidence through consistent quality performance and transparency.
• Ensure effective communication of quality improvement initiatives and performance results.

Supplier Quality Management

• Develop and strengthen supplier quality programmes covering fabrics, trims, accessories, and raw materials.
• Conduct supplier evaluations and quality audits.
• Partner with suppliers to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure incoming materials consistently meet customer and company quality standards.

Operational Excellence & Digital Quality Systems

• Drive end-to-end quality assurance across all production stages from raw materials to final shipment.
• Lead quality monitoring through digital dashboards, KPI tracking, and analytics.
• Utilize data-driven insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Promote lean manufacturing, quality improvement tools, and operational excellence methodologies.

Talent Development & Capability Building

• Lead the development of quality, technical, and compliance teams.
• Establish training programmes to strengthen technical competencies across factories.
• Support succession planning and leadership development within quality functions.
• Promote best practices and knowledge sharing across factories and teams.
• Drive employee engagement and accountability within quality operations.

Compliance & Sustainability

• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, social compliance requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Support sustainability, ethical manufacturing, and ESG initiatives across all plants.
• Promote waste reduction, process optimization, and environmentally responsible practices.
• Ensure readiness for customer, compliance, and certification audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, Clothing Technology, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 12–15 years of progressive experience in apparel manufacturing quality management.
• Proven experience managing quality operations across multiple factories.
• Strong exposure to woven garment manufacturing is essential.
• Strong technical expertise in garment construction, stitching operations, sewing quality, and product development.
• Experience working with international apparel buyers and customer quality requirements.
• Strong knowledge of apparel quality systems, audits, compliance requirements, and manufacturing best practices.
• Experience in supplier quality management and technical problem-solving.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
• Experience implementing quality improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Proven leadership experience managing large quality and technical teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and customer relationship skills.
• Ability to travel between factory locations as required.
