Hospital Medicine - Virtual Care Physician - Winston-Salem, NC

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking a Virtual Hospitalist Physician to join our Section of Hospital Medicine and support the growing Virtual Hospital Program.

This is an opportunity to deliver high-quality inpatient care through an innovative virtual model. The physician will care for patients admitted to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospitals while working closely with advanced practice providers, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams.

Position Highlights

• Provide acute, inpatient-level medical care in a virtual setting
• Evaluate patients virtually and develop individualized plans of care
• Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and conditions
• Order and interpret diagnostic testing
• Prescribe appropriate medications and other indicated therapies
• Consult and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Support patient education and collaborative goal setting
• Supervise credentialed advanced practice providers in accordance with applicable supervision policies
• Maintain timely, accurate medical records in accordance with organizational requirements

Practice Environment

The Virtual Hospital Program provides care for patients who are physically admitted to hospitals throughout the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist market. The program combines virtual physician coverage with on-site clinical support to promote coordinated, patient-centered care.

Physicians in this role will:

• Work collaboratively with advanced practice providers and other members of the patient-care team
• Consult with specialty and hospital-based teams when appropriate
• Participate in Virtual Hospital business meetings and program activities
• Help support an evolving care model designed for continued growth and operational flexibility
• Maintain inpatient hospital privileges at applicable Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist facilities
