Description

Reports to: Building Principal

Position Overview: Farmington School District is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Certified Teacher to lead our newly established K-2 CONNECT program. Grounded in the principles of Conscious Discipline, the CONNECT program provides a safe, highly structured, and regulated environment for early elementary students experiencing significant and extreme behavioral challenges. Unlike traditional pull-out support, students in CONNECT spend their full day in this self-contained instructional setting to systematically learn, practice, and integrate foundational self-regulation, social-emotional skills, and academic competencies, with the ultimate goal of successfully transitioning back to their home classrooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Skill Building: Systematically teach routines, replacement behaviors, emotional regulation, coping mechanisms, and social-emotional skills grounded in Conscious Discipline.
  • Academic Integration: Maintain K-2 academic continuity, incorporating tailored instruction to build work stamina and academic skills while prioritizing behavior intervention.
  • Behavior Data & Assessment: Evaluate student behavior data and supports, track progress on behavioral/social-emotional goals, and adjust intervention plans accordingly.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a safe, highly structured, and emotionally supportive classroom environment designed to coregulate and de-escalate extreme behaviors.
  • Program Execution & Transition: Implement the CONNECT 4-step framework (Evaluate, Intervene, Transition, Follow Up) to systematically support students as they build skills and incrementally transition back into their regular classrooms.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Supervise and direct the classroom paraprofessional; collaborate closely with building leadership, multidisciplinary teams, parent/guardian support systems, and home school teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education
  • Demonstrated experience working with young children (K-2) demonstrating significant, complex, or extreme behavioral challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of or certification/training in Conscious Discipline or trauma-informed behavioral practices.
  • Expertise in behavior intervention strategies, functional behavior assessments, data tracking, and positive reinforcement systems
  • Excellent communication, coregulation, de-escalation, and team-collaboration skills.

This position is for 2026-2027 School year.

The District reserves the right to close this posting when a suitable applicant is found.
