Lead Scrum Master/Agile Coach
Description
The successful candidate will:
Have implemented agile or product operating models in practice
Be comfortable working in early-stage, partially defined delivery environments
Be able to stabilise delivery where structure is not yet fully in place
Coach Product Owners and teams to:
Prioritise based on business value
Make decisions and trade-offs
Understand how to operate in multi-team, dependency-heavy environments
Be confident challenging ineffective delivery practices
Introduce practical, lightweight structures that improve delivery outcomes
Focus on delivery effectiveness, not agile theory
This role requires someone who can shape how delivery works, not just facilitate it. It is not suitable for candidates whose experience is primarily:
Agile ceremonies
Tool administration (e.g. Jira)
Passive facilitation
Essential Experience
Candidates must demonstrate:
Experience implementing agile or product delivery models in complex environments
Experience working across multiple teams with strong interdependencies
Experience coaching Product Owners and delivery teams in:
Backlog management
Prioritisation
Delivery discipline
Experience establishing delivery structures in ambiguous or evolving environments
Strong understanding of:
Cross-team coordination
Dependency management
Delivery sequencing
Experience improving delivery outcomes, not just process adherence
Strong stakeholder management across business and technology
Ability to challenge constructively and drive clarity
Proven ownership of delivery enablement outcomes
Experience coaching resistant, senior business/finance stakeholders and building an agile mindset from scratch
Experience defining and coaching the Product Owner role, including getting one overall Product Owner to harmonise across regions rather than many, and explaining that the PO owns value and objectives, not the IT solution.
Proven track record of getting business people to build the backlog, roadmap and objectives before asking for architecture documents
Experience re-establishing basic ceremonies, especially a true daily stand-up focused on progress and blockers (yesterday, today, blockers) rather than solution talk
Experience working with part-time teams and pulling integration/design SMEs in only when needed
Experience securing stakeholder attendance and engagement with agile practices
Desirable
Experience in finance operations or operational transformation environments
Experience in platform-based delivery models
Exposure to automation-heavy or AI-enabled solutions
Experience supporting transition from project to product delivery
Experience in large, multi-stakeholder enterprise environments
Candidates do not need all desirable experience, but strong delivery and coaching capability is required.
