  • Sydney-based regional role covering 15 dental practices across Sydney’s CBD, South Eastern and South Western Sydney, extending to Bowral and Dapto.
  • Enjoy a flexible working model, combining regular practice visits with working from home or the office.

Use your strengths in people leadership, building high-performing teams, creating great culture and stakeholder management to drive success.

About the opportunity

At Bupa, our people are at the heart of helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

We’re looking for an experienced people leader to join our Dental, Optical and Hearing Health Services team as a Practice Development Manager. Supporting a portfolio of approximately 15 practices, you’ll coach Practice Managers, build trusted relationships with clinicians and teams, and create an environment where people can do their best work.

This is a hands-on leadership role with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to team engagement, practice performance and patient experience.

What you’ll do

  • Lead, coach and develop Managers and teams, setting clear expectations and supporting their performance and career development.
  • Build engaged, collaborative teams and a culture of accountability, support and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Practice Managers and clinicians to understand local challenges, resolve issues and identify opportunities to improve.
  • Support people management activities, including performance conversations, staff engagement, rostering and workforce planning.
  • Guide operational and financial performance, using practice data and P&L results to develop practical improvement plans.
  • Help teams implement business priorities, processes and compliance requirements while maintaining a strong focus on patient care.
  • Visit practices regularly to provide visible leadership, build relationships and follow through on agreed actions.

About you

You’re a confident, approachable leader who knows how to bring out the best in people. You build trust, have constructive conversations and adapt your approach to support different personalities and teams.

You’ll bring:

  • At least three years’ experience directly managing people, including responsibility for performance, development and team culture.
  • A track record of coaching others, strengthening engagement and helping teams achieve results.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Operational experience and commercial awareness, with confidence using financial and performance information to guide decisions.
  • Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • A commitment to supporting your teams and delivering a positive patient experience.
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly across your practice portfolio.

Dental experience is not essential. While experience in health services and working alongside clinicians would be beneficial, what matters most is your ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, build a positive and engaged culture, manage stakeholders effectively and drive strong operational performance. If you bring these strengths and transferable leadership experience from another industry, we’d love to hear from you.

At Bupa your wellbeing, identity, and personal story are respected and valued. We are continuing to build teams that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Bupa is committed to providing equal opportunities and fostering a workplace and environment that is free of discrimination, bullying and harassment.

We actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, veterans, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ applicants.

We are dedicated to removing barriers to participation. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, or if you’d like to discuss how this role can be flexible for you, please let us know so we can support your participation on an equitable basis.
