Procurement Category Manager – Hardware & Connectivity

Job Overview

This is an exciting time to join the Arm Procurement team. We are in the middle of a significant transformation, building a growing team and investing at the forefront of Procurement and AI technology. We are looking for an upbeat and commercially savvy Procurement Category Manager to join our Technology Procurement team.

This is an indirect technology procurement role, focused on sourcing the hardware and networking services that Arm uses to support its internal Engineering, IT and business operations. The category covers areas such as engineering and lab hardware, end user computing, networking and telecommunications, audio visual equipment, and associated installation, support and maintenance services.

You will have the opportunity to shape category strategies, lead complex and high-value sourcing projects, and build strategic commercial relationships with leading global technology suppliers, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Value Added Resellers (VARs).
Working closely with Engineering, IT, Finance, Legal and other stakeholders, you will bring market insight and commercial expertise to challenge requirements, evaluate alternative solutions and influence technology purchasing decisions.

The role combines strategic category development with hands-on sourcing, negotiation and contracting across a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

As Arm continues to evolve and grow, the role may also support adjacent technology categories and other procurement priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement category strategies, bringing together spend, supplier, market and demand insights to identify opportunities and build an executable sourcing pipeline.
  • Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities, including market evaluation, supplier selection, competitive tendering, negotiation and contracting.
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies that challenge existing purchasing approaches, create competitive tension and deliver value beyond price, considering demand, commercial models, commitments, flexibility, service levels, risk and total cost of ownership.
  • Evaluate and optimise sourcing routes, including direct OEM relationships, VARs and distributors, to identify the most effective commercial and service delivery models.
  • Develop a strong understanding of relevant market dynamics, emerging technologies, supplier capabilities and commercial trends, translating these insights into category and sourcing strategies.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships, driving commercial performance, governance, risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships across Engineering, IT and other functions, providing commercial guidance, constructively challenging requirements and influencing decision-making.
  • Identify supply and supplier risks and appropriate mitigating actions, while ensuring suppliers are aligned with Arm’s ESG objectives.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in indirect technology procurement and category management across hardware, connectivity and associated services, including devices, engineering and lab hardware, networking hardware and services, telecommunications, end user computing and audio visual solutions.
  • Experience sourcing through OEMs, VARs and distributors, with a strong understanding of commercial models and opportunities to optimise sourcing routes.
  • Experience developing and implementing category strategies and translating them into executable sourcing pipelines.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a track record of identifying opportunities, challenging suppliers and applying commercial levers to deliver value beyond headline price.
  • Proven experience leading complex end-to-end sourcing, negotiation and commercial contracting activities.
  • Ability to understand complex technical and business requirements and translate them into effective commercial strategies.
  • Strong stakeholder influencing and communication skills, with experience partnering with technical and senior stakeholders, constructively challenging requirements and influencing purchasing decisions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience in technology procurement within a technology, semiconductor or engineering organisation.
  • Experience working in complex global organisations and across international supplier markets.
  • Ariba or other Source-to-Contract experience.
  • Experience with procurement orchestration platforms such as Zip.
  • MCIPS or other relevant procurement qualification.
