Project Manager, Pre-Engineered Install
Description

At Encore Fire Protection, we are proud to be the East Coast's largest full-service fire protection company, serving over 90,000 customers from Maine to Louisiana. Our team of more than 2,800 dedicated employees provides customized fire protection solutions that protect lives and property every day.
Our goal is to deliver a unique experience to those who depend on us to make their lives safer and easier. We are passionate about growing with purpose, driving real innovation, and creating a winning culture built on teamwork, success, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
Our mission? To be the best fire protection company the industry has ever seen.
The Opportunity
Encore is hiring a Suppression Project Manager to run fast-moving projects for our pre-engineered fire suppression systems. These systems are built on factory-tested design parameters, and you will manage them across four types of work: commercial kitchens, vehicle suppression for bulldozers and other heavy operator equipment, paint booths, and other industrial manufacturing environments that require suppression systems.
Most of our projects are one to two days long, so this role moves quickly and rewards deep technical knowledge. You know your materials, you know what works and what doesn't, and you can adapt in the moment. When the schedule tightens or the materials on hand aren't what the plan called for, you find a smart, code-compliant way to get the job done with the team and resources you have.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management and Execution
· Manage a high volume of short-duration suppression projects, typically one to two days, from scope review through completion and closeout.
· Plan each job, assign crews, and keep projects on schedule and on budget in a fast-paced environment.
· Adjust plans, sequencing, and crew assignments in real time to meet deadlines when conditions, materials, or staffing change.
· Resolve field problems quickly and within code, manufacturer requirements, and project scope, and escalate when a decision is beyond your authority.
Technical Systems Expertise
· Apply detailed knowledge of pre-engineered suppression systems, including restaurant kitchen systems, and their manufacturer design, installation, and testing requirements.
· Manage fire suppression systems built onto vehicles and heavy equipment, including bulldozers and other off-road machinery, working through mounting, routing, and detection challenges unique to each machine.
· Manage industrial suppression projects and paint booth suppression systems, including the related code and customer requirements.
· Review drawings, specifications, equipment details, and site conditions to confirm the right system, components, and approach for every job.
· Ensure all work complies with applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer listings, and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
Materials, Scheduling, and Resources
· Plan material needs for each project, confirm availability, and find compliant alternatives or solutions when specified items are delayed or unavailable.
· Work with purchasing, warehouse, and branch teams to keep jobs supplied and moving.
· Get the most out of the team and resources available, balancing crew skills, schedules, and competing priorities.
Customer and Trade Coordination
· Serve as the main point of contact for customers, general contractors, and other trades on assigned projects.
· Set clear expectations on scope, schedule, system shutdowns, and access, and keep customers informed throughout the job.
· Coordinate with equipment owners, facility managers, and other trades to minimize downtime and disruption.
Quality, Safety, and Documentation
· Verify workmanship, system testing, and commissioning before project completion, and conduct customer walkthroughs and handoffs as needed.
· Maintain accurate project records, including scope changes, inspection and test documentation, and turnover paperwork.
· Track project costs, manage change orders, and support timely billing.
· Promote a safe work environment and follow all applicable OSHA and job-site safety procedures, including those for industrial sites and hot work.
What You Bring to the Table
· 5-10 years of experience in fire suppression systems, including project management or technical field leadership.
· Strong technical knowledge of pre-engineered suppression systems, including commercial kitchen systems.
· Experience with vehicle and heavy equipment fire suppression systems.
· Experience with industrial suppression systems and paint booth systems.
· Working knowledge of NFPA 17, 17A, 33, and 96, manufacturer requirements, and applicable local codes.
· Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and manufacturer design manuals.
· Proven ability to manage multiple fast-moving projects, prioritize under pressure, and solve problems on the fly.
· Strong communication skills with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
· Ability to lead and coordinate crews of varying experience levels.
What Will Make You Stand Out?
· NICET certification in Special Hazards Suppression Systems.
· Manufacturer certifications for pre-engineered suppression systems.
· Hands-on technician experience before moving into project management.
· Project management training or certification, such as PMP.
· OSHA 30 certification.
· Experience with job costing, scheduling, and project management software.
