Safety Lead - 2nd Shift

Position Purpose:

Work as a member of the Safety team and in coordination with the HR and Production departments to provide safety program support and training to all associates.

Essential Functions:

Work daily with HR and Production departments to provide Safety program support.

Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of safety.

Assist with safety committee meetings monthly

Provide lead administrative support for safety incidents on the shop floor.

Ensure timely and accurate initial data collection of safety incidents.

Perform Daily Safety Review (DSR) of facility.

Serves as lead point of contact on the floor for Accident investigation.

Assist EHS Representative to conduct annual refresher training to all employees in health, safety, ergonomics, and other required aspects.

Help maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

Assists in restocking first aid cabinets, Hearing PPE, Safety glass cleaning stations as needed.

Large portion of administrative duties: Maintain Velocity, Filing and organizing training logs.

Education and Training

High School Diploma or GED required

Able to successfully complete OSHA 30-hour course

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to industrial manufacturing.

Working knowledge of existing Hendrickson Safety programs and Production policies and procedures.

Ability to react in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to analyze and resolve potential safety issues with consideration of scheduling changes and line stoppages.

Solid communication skills.

Ability to recognize and identify areas for improvement.

Ability to adapt to change and take proactive approach.

Competent with all required documentation and computer software.

Ability to work necessary hours across all shifts to achieve high standards.

2 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in welding or metalworking industry.

No disciplinary write-ups in the last six months, outstanding attendance and exemplary performance.

Prior First Responder Training or experience is preferred.

Member of the Hendrickson Safety Committee is preferred.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position frequently.

Frequent need to move about inside office or on the production floor.

Minimally need to position self in low or tight spaces.

Occasional movement of hands, wrists, or fingers such as typing, filing, and writing.

Work Environment: Manufacturing

Lighting: Adequate

Ventilation: Adequate.

Temperature: Office is Temperature Controlled with AC/Heat. Production floor is non-temperature controlled; humidity, heat, and cold are factors during the year.
