School Social Worker/Psychologist (STARR Grant)

POSITION (S): Jersey City Public Schools - STARR

Social Worker/Psychologist
Full Time, 10 month position
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 2:55 pm
September through June

JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide counseling services through clinical interventions and social
skills lessons to students who are in need of mental health support services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Provide clinical interventions to support students in a school setting
-Provide group and individual counseling to students with a focus on improving social emotional skills
-Provide trauma informed practices to students in need
-Assess and analyze pre and post outcomes
-Plan, organize, and direct Project Resilience initiatives
-Develop and facilitate Professional Development for staff, families and mental health partners
-Provide guidance to parents to assist them in understanding and seeking assistance to address their child's emotional and social needs
-Plan, organize and facilitate parent groups and community forums
-Prepare monthly reports
-Collaborate and coordinate services with other support professionals and teachers
-Provide and organize in-services and staff development programs
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Life and Personnel Services

REQUIREMENTS:

-Should possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
-Applicants must be positive, energetic, flexible and a team player that can assist in creating Project Resilience.
-Applicants should possess patience and solid communications skills.
-Applicants must also be highly organized, able to multitask and adjust to changes in school environments.
-Applicants must have reliable transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Master's or Dr. degree in Counseling Psychology or Social work
-NJ certificate as a School Psychologist or LPC.
-Experience as a clinical counselor.

SALARY/STIPEND: As Per Contractual Agreement Funded by the STARR Grant - Grant Funded
