Senior Business Operations Analyst
Description
The future of aerospace and defense starts here.
Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands.
We are hiring a Senior Business Operations Analyst to own day-to-day business operations in support of our growing Washington presence and to drive evaluation and execution of U.S. government and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) opportunities. This is not an administrative role. You will work directly with leadership to assess commercial and government opportunities, support domestic and FMS sales efforts, manage operational workflows that enable deal flow, and build the processes needed as the company’s DC footprint and government business scale. You will operate at the intersection of strategy, business operations, and government sales.
Where This Role Can Go
We expect this hire to grow with the company. Candidates who want ownership over business operations, opportunity evaluation, and government sales support—and who can turn analysis into action—will find real runway here as Ursa Major expands its domestic and international customer base.
Responsibilities
Business operations
- Own and improve operational processes that support business development, opportunity tracking, and deal execution in the DC office
- Track and manage operational workflows, action items, and reporting for government and commercial opportunities
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs (strategy, finance, programs, HQ) to keep opportunity evaluation and execution moving
- Build scalable operational infrastructure (tracking systems, reporting cadence, SOPs) that can support growth in USG and FMS work
Opportunity evaluation & government sales support
- Support evaluation of domestic U.S. government and FMS opportunities, including gathering requirements, assessing fit, and preparing internal recommendations
- Assist with preparation of materials, briefing packages, and coordination for government customer engagements
- Track status of active and prospective USG and FMS efforts and surface risks, blockers, and next steps
- Support sales and strategy teams with operational execution of opportunity pipelines
Cross-functional coordination
- Act as a DC point of contact for operational coordination with HQ functions (strategy, finance, programs, security) on government-related work
- Help coordinate visiting leadership and technical teams for government and customer meetings
- Identify process improvements that reduce friction in opportunity evaluation and sales support
- Support light project management of internal initiatives tied to business operations and government sales
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in business operations, government sales support, opportunity evaluation, or a related role in defense, aerospace, or national security
- Comfort working with U.S. government customers, requirements, and sales processes (domestic and/or FMS)

- Proficiency with standard tools (Microsoft 365, Teams, tracking/CRM-style systems) and ability to pick up new platforms quickly
- Genuine interest in aerospace, propulsion, hypersonics, and defense acquisition
- Ability to work on-site in Washington, D.C.
- S. citizenship required (role involves access to export-controlled information); ability to obtain a security clearance preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to Economic Defense, DIU, Commerce, or related government roles focused on technology, investment, or industrial base issues
- Experience supporting FMS, direct commercial sales, or USG opportunity pipelines
- Familiarity with defense acquisition, congressional/Pentagon engagement, or government affairs processes
- Experience building operational processes or tracking systems in a fast-growing environment
