Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Dexterous Manipulation Systems
Posted Updated
Description
We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to shape how our dexterous manipulation systems are built at scale. These are small, highly integrated electromechanical assemblies with many degrees of freedom, tight tolerances and dense packaging of miniature actuators, transmissions, sensors and wiring. You will own manufacturing for this product end to end, partnering with design engineering from early concept. You will define the manufacturing line, develop the equipment technologies and processes it needs, and own the roadmap through deployment of robust, high-volume automated lines.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead DFM, DFA and design-for-test reviews from initial concept, shaping product architecture for automated assembly.
- Ideate and deliver manufacturing systems from proof of concept to automation at scale, defining assembly sequence, station design, line balancing, and layout.
- Lead the development of new equipment technologies and bring a wide range of precision assembly methods to process maturity, including fastening, force-controlled insertion, dispensing, fixturing and vision-guided automation, under ESD-safe and contamination-controlled conditions.
- Co-define and deploy quality controls (in-process inspection, end-of-line test, calibration and traceability) with design, test and quality engineering.
- Find and evaluate equipment suppliers, and retire the highest-risk processes early through concept studies, experiments, feasibility trials and proof-of-concept builds. Own equipment specification, buy-off and start of production.
- Own line performance through production handoff, proving capability through metrics such as first-pass yield, rate and cost.
- Mentor engineers and set team standards for DFM/DFA reviews, process development and line design.
