Summary of Role:

The Lithography Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) SMTS will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for developing and enabling lithography capabilities supporting next-generation quantum technologies. This individual will bridge advanced technology development and semiconductor manufacturing, translating unique quantum-device requirements into manufacturable lithography processes, equipment capabilities, and technology roadmaps. The role will work closely with QTS integration teams, Fab AME organizations, equipment suppliers, and external technology partners to establish robust lithography solutions for emerging quantum platforms.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lithography Technology Development

· Serve as the QTS technical authority for advanced optical and related lithography processes.

· Develop and optimize lithography processes supporting quantum device and module development.

· Lead evaluation of resist systems, coat/develop processes, exposure strategies, alignment approaches, and patterning schemes.

· Drive improvements in critical dimension control, overlay, pattern fidelity, defectivity, and process window.

· Develop patterning strategies for unconventional quantum structures, materials, substrates, and integration requirements.

· Partner with integration engineers to translate device requirements into lithography process specifications and design rules.

· Define experiments, analyze results, and establish statistically robust process windows.

Equipment and Capability Development

· Define lithography equipment capability requirements for current and future quantum programs.

· Assess existing Fab 8 and Fab 9 equipment against QTS requirements and identify capability gaps.

· Lead technical evaluations of new lithography equipment, upgrades, materials, and process capabilities.

· Develop equipment and technology roadmaps aligned with QTS program needs.

· Partner with equipment suppliers on demonstrations and capability development.

· Translate supplier technology-roadmap information into QTS technology-roadmap and capital-planning recommendations.

Quantum Program Execution

· Provide lithography leadership for quantum PDK development, module learning, experiments, prototypes, and customer demonstrations.

· Support multiple quantum modalities and device architectures as lithography requirements evolve.

· Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of patterning-related yield, defectivity, and integration issues.

· Establish process-of-record conditions and transfer developed processes into manufacturing-capable environments.

· Ensure tool, recipe, material, and metrology readiness prior to major development lots and demonstrations.

Technical Leadership

· Act as a senior lithography technical resource across QTS.

· Mentor engineers and technical staff working on patterning technologies.

· Lead structured technical problem solving and cross-functional technical reviews.

· Influence QTS lithography strategy and long-range capability planning.

· Develop intellectual property and contribute to invention disclosures, patents, technical publications, and internal technical reviews.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

· BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.

· Significant semiconductor process development, technology development, or advanced manufacturing experience.

· Demonstrated expertise in the relevant process sector and semiconductor process optimization.

· Experience integrating the process with adjacent unit processes and metrology.

· Experience using DOE, statistical analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

· Demonstrated ability to independently lead technically complex development programs.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills across engineering, supplier, and leadership organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with advanced-node or specialty-semiconductor lithography.

· Experience with ArF immersion, KrF, i-line, advanced resist/process technologies, and/or electron-beam lithography.

· Experience developing tight-overlay or high-resolution patterning processes.

· Knowledge of photonics, superconducting devices, quantum devices, MEMS, heterogeneous integration, or advanced packaging.

· Experience working directly with lithography equipment and material suppliers.

· Experience transitioning R&D processes into semiconductor manufacturing.
