JOB SUMMARY
We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our Foundations & Enablement team, where you’ll help build and evolve the tools, pipelines, and test environments that make testing faster, more reliable, and easier for every team, while also testing product features.
You’ll join our dynamic and growing Product Engineering team at Storyblok, playing an instrumental role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our flagship CMS platform. This platform empowers businesses to create and deliver seamless digital content experiences.
Foundations & Enablement is a platform team with QAs and developers as its customers. You’ll work closely with QA, software, and DevOps engineers to maintain and improve a reusable ecosystem of tools, pipelines, and components that engineers use every day. Our tests run in containerized environments, so working comfortably with Docker is central to this role. We have solid tooling in place, but it doesn’t cover everything, and we expect you to spot gaps and opportunities. You’ll split your time between improving that foundation and contributing directly to feature quality, which keeps you close to the real pain points other QAs face.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Docker-based test environments that run the same way locally and in CI, including writing and updating Dockerfiles and Docker Compose setups, keeping them fast, stable, and easy to use.
- Identify improvement opportunities in our current tooling, propose solutions, and contribute to the team’s roadmap together with QA leadership, engineering managers, and DevOps.
- Maintain and improve GitHub Actions workflows that run our test suites, with attention to reliability and execution time.
- Help shape how we validate releases of containerized deployments across configurations and version combinations.
- Test product features: participate in kick-offs and refinement, perform manual and exploratory testing, write automated tests, and document, track, and verify defects.
- Treat internal tools as products: gather feedback from QAs and developers, iterate, communicate changes, and help drive adoption.
- Improve test suite reliability: identify, track, and fix flaky tests, and make test data self-contained and API-seeded, so suites don’t depend on pre-existing data and work against freshly provisioned environments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience as a QA Engineer or Software Engineer in Test.
- Strong, hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript.
- Solid, practical experience with Docker: reading and writing Dockerfiles, working with multi-container setups, and debugging containerized environments.
- Solid experience with manual and exploratory testing, and with turning findings into clear, actionable defect reports.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across QA, development, and DevOps.
- Demonstrated AI literacy: you use AI tools to improve productivity and quality of work, for example, bug clustering and pattern analysis, while applying sound judgment and critical thinking.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience writing and maintaining Ruby on Rails code.
- Experience optimizing CI workflows (caching, parallelization, runner sizing and cost trade-offs).
MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Remote (home) work opportunity or funded by Storyblok co-working space
