Description

About Us

Jeppesen ForeFlight is one of Poland's largest software companies, building resource management and optimization solutions for leading airlines. We equip pilots, operators, and decision-makers with tools that push aviation technology forward. Our OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) business is a key part of this: we license Jeppesen aeronautical data, charts, and software to aircraft, avionics, and flight-deck manufacturers, who embed them in their own products. In return, these partners pay us royalties and licensing fees based on their contracts and on usage or sales reported to us. Accurate accounting for these arrangements is essential to our revenue reporting.

Position Summary

In this role, you will own OEM licensing and royalty accounting, including revenue reconciliations and month-end close. You will lead the Royalty Accountant and work closely with Finance, Revenue Operations, and Billing & Collections to keep our reporting accurate, timely, and audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities

OEM Royalty & Licensing

  • Interpret complex OEM contracts and review royalty revenue and expense calculations for accuracy against contractual terms. Identify and resolve calculation or payment discrepancies.
  • Review reconciliations of OEM partner royalty reports against internal calculations, and conduct royalty and licensing audits.
  • Lead cross-functional onboarding of new OEM products, including item numbers, fee structures, contract language, report definitions, and testing.
  • Track and report on OEM and licensing KPIs: billed revenue, royalty revenue and expense, receivables aging, collections, and zero-dollar ($0) transactions (billed items that should carry a fee).
  • Maintain knowledge of Eastern Hemisphere OEM and licensing regulations.
  • Administer the Smartsheet tool as the system of record for the end-to-end royalty process.

Revenue & Billing Reconciliation

  • Review and approve internal revenue reporting reconciliations against payment processor data. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and approve monthly royalty calculations, supporting schedules, and royalty payments.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve general ledger (GL) variances.
  • Maintain documentation to support audit readiness and compliance.

Cross-Functional & Ad Hoc Support

  • Oversee and manage the Royalty Accountant, who prepares the monthly royalty calculations, internal revenue reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations. Review their work for accuracy, set priorities and deadlines, and provide coaching and development.
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for reconciliations, reporting, partner deliverables, timelines, and data requests.
  • Coordinate month-end activities with the Finance, Revenue Operations, and Billing teams.
  • Support the Senior Accounting Manager with reporting, analysis, and special projects. Help improve processes and controls.

Month-End Accounting

  • Prepare and review journal entries (accruals, revenue, and expense adjustments). Calculate accrual amounts from contracts and historical data.
  • Support variance analysis of month-end results.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounts receivable (AR) or billing experience; 2+ years in accounting preferred (revenue recognition, royalty accounting, or reconciliations)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Able to work independently and build relationships across teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and audit practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading or mentoring accounting team members
  • Familiarity with OEM licensing, royalty methodologies, and fee tables
  • Familiarity with Cognos, Oracle, and Smartsheet

Accounting Competencies Expected

  • AR lifecycle, accrual vs. cash accounting, revenue recognition fundamentals, and period-end cutoff principles
  • Ownership of AR sub-ledger-to-GL reconciliations, full order-to-cash understanding, and the ability to escalate items that need Technical Accounting review
  • Support for internal controls and external audits, including explaining reconciliations to auditors

Benefits
Private medical insurance, life insurance, PPK pension plan (+2.5% employer contribution), Multikafeteria platform (incl. MultiSport), Employee Assistance Program, employee referral program, flight rewards and stipend.
