Senior Software Engineer

• As a Senior Fullstack Engineer at our company, you will play a crucial role in developing both the user-facing frontend and the backend systems powering the Foodsmart platform
• You’ll be responsible for designing and maintaining scalable, high-performance web applications and backend services
• You will work closely with both frontend and backend teams to create efficient APIs, manage data, and ensure a seamless user experience
• Your contributions will directly impact the lives of our users, helping to bridge the gap between personalized nutrition seekers and registered dietitians providing expert guidance
• You’ll have a passion for coding and a deep understanding of web technologies, enabling you to contribute to every layer of the product stack
• Design and implement robust, scalable backend systems and APIs
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement interactive, accessible, and responsive frontend interfaces using modern web technologies
• Define and maintain development practices including code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration to improve code quality and efficiency
• Collaborate with the product team to understand user requirements, formulate use cases, and translate them into technical solutions
• Debug and fix issues across both frontend and backend systems
• Proactively monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and security across both layers
• Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and propose ways to apply them in current and future development

• Experienced with database management, whether SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (DynamoDB), and cloud data platforms
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong RESTful API design and integration skills — you can design clean, versioned API contracts, handle authentication/authorization, and consume third-party APIs reliably from both frontend and backend code
• Deep database knowledge across both relational and non-relational systems: comfortable designing schemas, writing performant queries, and managing migrations in MySQL/PostgreSQL, as well as modeling and querying data in DynamoDB
• Experience with containerization and orchestration, including building and running services in Docker and deploying/managing them in a Kubernetes (or similar) environment, along with general comfort operating in cloud infrastructure
• Working familiarity with core AWS services, including compute (EC2, Lambda), messaging (SQS, SNS), storage (S3), and managed databases (RDS) - enough to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot services in a cloud-native environment
• 6+ years of full-stack development experience, with deep, hands-on expertise in React.js, and TypeScript for building production frontend applications, plus strong backend experience in Node.js for building services and APIs
