Description

Toyota is a strong, global brand and one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers. Teams at Toyota Motor Europe and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland in Lower Silesia are all working togther to deliver the best mobility solutions for users around the world.

Our Digital Hub is Toyota Motor Europe’s IT research and development centre, established in 2026 in Wrocław. We are responsible for developing and maintaining software and connected digital services for the Toyota and Lexus brands in Europe.

Become part of our team and help us shape the future.

Team description:

We empower Toyota Manufacturing members in their solutions delivery by providing project & solution governance. We are co-constructing the factory of the future alongside our Production Engineering division.

Role Summary:

Work under the guidance of the Lead Solution Architect for Manufacturing to design and steer the software architecture that will power Toyota’s Factory of the Future. You will guide a development team in building scalable, modular, secure, and high‑performance manufacturing applications, ensuring they integrate smoothly with shop‑floor systems, edge platforms, data services, and enterprise systems

Key Responsibilities:

Senior Solution Architect

1) Architecture & Technical Leadership (Under Lead Solution Architect Direction)

  • Translate the Lead Solution Architect’s manufacturing vision into concrete, actionable architecture designs for the development team.
  • Create system blueprints, component diagrams, API definitions, event flows, and integration models.
  • Ensure architecture aligns with long-term manufacturing platform strategy and evolving technology landscape.

2) Guide and Support the Development Team

  • Break down complex requirements into logical, well‑structured technical solutions.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching for backend, integration, and edge‑focused engineers.
  • Conduct design reviews, enforce architecture patterns, and ensure compliance with coding and deployment standards.

3) Build Scalable, Industrial‑Grade Software

  • Architect solutions that can operate reliably in industrial environments, considering real‑time or near‑real‑time processing, connectivity limitations, high availability and redundancy, and site‑level deployment constraints (hybrid/on‑prem/edge).
  • Ensure solutions are secure, maintainable, and easy to operate in multi‑plant environments.
  • 4) Integrate Across the Modern Manufacturing Tech Stack

    - Architect secure, robust integrations with:

    • IoT and Edge platforms (Ignition or similar runtimes, gateways, microservices at the edge)
    • Real‑time messaging systems (MQTT/Sparkplug‑B, ActiveMQ, Kafka, OPC UA)
    • Manufacturing data platforms (time‑series databases, data lakes, cloud data warehouses) while adhering to Manufacturing Data Governance rituals ( UNS/UDT)
    • Factory applications and services (operator tools, quality systems, traceability tools, production apps)
    • Enterprise systems (ERP, logistics, maintenance systems)

    - Define and maintain clear API and service boundaries, data contracts and schemas, event standards and versioning strategies.

    5) Promote Excellence in Software Engineering

    • Ensure architectures support modern engineering practices: Domain‑driven design; Event‑driven architecture; Containerization & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes); CI/CD automation; Observability‑first design (telemetry, health checks, distributed tracing).
    • Support the team in building robust pipelines and high‑quality software delivery processes.

    6) Cross‑Team Collaboration

    • Work closely with the Lead Solution Architect, Product Owners, IoT specialists, Data teams, Cybersecurity, Infra teams, and plant engineering teams.
    • Bring clarity in discussions, highlighting architectural trade-offs and guiding the team to the right solution.
    • Ensure technical alignment across different domains and avoid siloed or conflicting designs.

Formal Role Details:

  • Job Type: undefined time contract
  • Starting date: Position available since May 2026
  • Location: Wroclaw, Silver Tower Office Center
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid è 2 days every weeks (flexible), in line with the need
  • Reporting line: Manager / Team Lead
  • Education level required: Bachelor/Master

Qualifications & Skills:

- Strong background in microservices and distributed systems; event‑driven architectures; real‑time or near real‑time data processing; secure integrations across edge/on‑prem/cloud; robust API and data‑flow design.

- Experience with IoT/edge runtimes; real‑time messaging (MQTT, AMQP, Kafka); time‑series databases; backend frameworks (Java, C#, Python, Node.js…); Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Terraform or similar IaC.

Manufacturing Environment Familiarity

- Understanding of shop‑floor workflows, machine interaction patterns, operator tooling, or MES‑adjacent systems.

- Knowledge of constraints in industrial environments (latency, network zoning, safety requirements, limited connectivity).

- Experience with computer vision pipelines or edge inference is a plus.

Soft Skills

- Excellent communication and ability to simplify complex architectures.

- Ability to collaborate with both hands‑on engineers and non‑technical stakeholders.
