Job description
Will Adie is dedicated to delivering a first-class customer service, resolving issues informally wherever possible and taking an innovative and pragmatic approach to complex building safety, design and remediation challenges. Will believes in working in a collaborative and flexible way and values diversity of experience and perspective to foster good decision-making and practical problem solving within the team.
This is a rare chance to help shape the development of building safety technical assurance within a fast-growing national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders, delivery teams and industry professionals, you will help ensure the efficient, consistent and effective resolution of complex technical, commercial and project delivery issues. You will provide independent technical assurance, scrutiny and specialist advice to support decision-making and help ensure remediation proposals are technically robust, proportionate and represent value for public investment.
The role will support the delivery of key strategic priorities across the Cladding Safety Scheme and, where required, other government-funded building safety programmes. There are some exciting and rewarding projects to get involved with, making this an excellent opportunity to balance day-to-day technical delivery with the development of innovative and proportionate solutions that help buildings progress towards remediation. Working closely with delivery and commercial colleagues, you will help identify and resolve technical barriers that may otherwise hinder the progression of remediation projects.
Person specification
You'll be comfortable supporting the Cladding Safety Scheme and wider building safety programmes with complex technical, commercial and project delivery issues, aiming to facilitate the safe and effective remediation of residential buildings. You will be proficient in reviewing technical information, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing clear, evidence-based advice to support decision-making.
You will be confident critically reviewing designs, specifications, surveys, remediation proposals, technical reports and cost information, identifying key risks and recommending proportionate solutions. You will be able to provide robust technical assurance and quality
reviews, ensuring recommendations are evidence-based, consistent and aligned with relevant guidance, standards and programme objectives.
You will already possess detailed knowledge of building safety legislation, remediation practices, emerging technical standards and the evolving regulatory environment, together with demonstrable practical experience within the housing, construction and development sectors. You will hold a relevant built environment qualification and maintain full membership of an appropriate professional body such as CABE, CIAT, CIOB, RIBA or RICS.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level, and your discussions will always be shaped by a strong understanding of both the technical and commercial implications of remediation delivery. You will be comfortable engaging with consultants, contractors, design teams, applicants and internal colleagues, providing constructive challenge, influencing decisions where required and helping stakeholders navigate complex issues.
You will enjoy working in an innovative, engaging and collaborative way and be able to negotiate, influence and persuade. As an experienced built environment professional, you'll understand how to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders as part of a team in an inclusive and collaborative manner.
The role will include visits to remediation projects, stakeholder locations and Agency offices across England to support technical assurance activities and gain a first-hand understanding of project progress and delivery challenges.
