Sr Project Engineer, SVBU

Hendrickson is searching for Product Engineer for the design and development of all Specialty Vehicle Business Unit products, including existing product applications and new product development.

This individual will

• Manage new product programs from conception through launch utilizing the Product Planning and Development Procedure.
• For all new product programs establish a tracking matrix consisting of timing goals for the above-mentioned deliverables. Maintain this matrix and provide support information to the SVBU Director for reviews by Senior Division staff and for quarterly updates.
• Maintains detailed action item lists for all product programs. Coordinate regular meetings with required resources to review and update program status, goals and action item lists works in conjunction with the SVBU Director to address resource or timing concerns.
• Coordinate the technical design and test aspects of new product programs with suppliers and customers in conjunction with the SVBU and Engineering Directors as required.
• Responsible to coordinate product transfers between facilities.
• Responsible for annual cost reductions through engineering efforts.
• Responsible for submitting VA/VE ideas to customers that equal 2% annually.
• Develop and protect technical capabilities and know how. Use these capabilities and know how to support the needs of the other divisions and the affiliates.
• For all new product programs and new concept development, utilize the Simultaneous Product Planning and Development process (SPPD). Provide timely program completion.
• Provide leadership in creating innovative product designs and developing them through implementation.
• Provide technical input and participates with the SVBU Director and marketing personnel to identify opportunities and define product programs.
• Lead regular cross - functional APQP/SPPD meetings with other areas of the SVBU. Coordinate design / program update meetings with the SVBU Director.
• Provide continuous improvement through employee development, process improvement and elimination of waste, and effectively manages technical professionals, providing leadership, coaching, and opportunities for employees to develop. Helps to assure safety in the office and laboratory.
• Provide Engineering technical guidance where required across Hendrickson divisions that overlap with the core products.
• Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Aeronautical Engineering required.
• 1+ years of experience in automotive, preferably truck, chassis system design and /or development.
• Demonstrated experience in the structural design of vehicle spring systems and components, including fatigue analysis and life prediction techniques.

Physical demands of this role can include:

• Frequent sitting and working at computer for extended periods of time.
• Occasional standing and walking on concrete.
• Occasional climbing stairs and fixed/vertical ladders.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60lbs.
• Ability to push/pull carts (minimal 25lbs) and parts (minimal 60lbs).
• Ability to drive as required.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Exposure to R&D lab and manufacturing setting.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the salary range for this position is $75,000-145,000 annually depending on experience. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, qualifications, and other job-related criteria. This pay range is provided to ensure transparency and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
