Substitute Teacher

The substitute teacher will temporarily fill in for the regular classroom teacher to manage classroom, deliver lessons, and maintain a positive learning environment within the classroom to ensure that student academic progress is not interrupted.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

1. Substitute Training completed through Oconee RESA - Substitute Teacher Training - Oconee RESA (Certified Teachers are not required to complete RESA Training.)
2. High school diploma or GED; Teaching certification or bachelor's degree is preferred.
3. Clear Background Check is required (Contact Putnam County Board of Education for procedures)
4. Interview with Human Resources Director is required.
5. Completed Substitute Teacher application must be on file.
6. Additional Substitute Teacher & Ethics training may be assigned.
7. Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers.

JOB DUTIES:

1. Arrive to the school location on time dressed neatly and professionally.
2. Provide appropriate instruction based on lesson plans provided by the teacher.
3. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Assist all students in achieving academic standards.
5. Treats students with dignity and respect and maintains student confidentiality.
6. Effectively manages the behavior of learners to ensure the environment is conducive to learning.
7. Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
8. Must be flexible and prepared for changes to the original assignment, depending on the needs of the school.
9. Follow federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures.
10. Physical demands position requires significant standing and some sitting, kneeling and walking. Must be able to move with the classroom and school setting

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitute Teachers work on a "As-Needed" basis. Work assignments are not guaranteed.
