Standard Job Description

Designs, develops and oversees system architectures, including complex systems and systems design activities. Serves as focal point for the development and communication of the system architecture. Ensures conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system. Develops systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definition. Supports internal and external design reviews. Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and design and analysis methodologies. Develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.

  • Serve as the primary integrator of architectural concepts from diverse internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all constructs align with and advance the program’s vision, mission, and roadmaps.
  • Engage deeply with business stakeholders, customers, and partners to capture and understand current state architectures (processes, data, roles) and articulate data, reporting, and analytics requirements across the program life-cycle.
  • Synthesize and integrate customer, industry partner, and internal architectural inputs into cohesive, parent level frameworks that enable full lifecycle utility and consistent implementation.
  • Develop future-state conceptual architectures that are implementable, secure, scalable, and supportable, with explicit priority given to integrating multidisciplinary stakeholder concepts and requirements.
  • Lead the integration, implementation, and operationalization of architectures, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and directly responsive to stakeholder needs.
  • Support the National Security mission areas with long-term planning, technology insertion, and solution architecture decisions.
  • Support the development and communication of the space comm architectural futures
  • Ensure assessment and conversion of mission needs/requirements into total mission systems solutions that account for the design and technology maturity constraints of the system
  • Develop innovative next gen mission systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definitions
  • Continuously translate architecture analysis into action plans and product development roadmaps
  • Support the development and management of overall budgets, schedules, and performance standards
  • Work with Enterprise Centers of Excellence, Supply Chain, and LOB leadership to translate mission and product roadmaps into technology investment and industry partnership decisions
  • Support internal and external mission system design reviews

Basic Qualifications

  • Significant experience working as a Systems Engineer and deploying integrated solutions across customer, or enterprise platforms, ensuring alignment with operational and stakeholder requirements
  • Experience in creating and refining architectural frameworks and governance constructs across program life cycles, focusing on solution integration, operational readiness, and stakeholder-driven requirements
  • Experience defining system interfaces, specifications, and requirements that bridge stakeholder concepts, enterprise architecture models, and implementation roadmaps
  • Experience in using the Cameo Systems Modeler or Enterprise Architecture (or similar) tools to conceptualize, integrate, and visualize system constructs across functional, logical, and physical dimensions
  • Experience applying MBSE concepts in a Systems Engineer or Systems Architect role
  • Ability and willingness to obtain LM Systems Architect certification within 12 months of starting in this role
  • Active DOD Secret clearance is required with ability to obtain a Top Secret

Desired Skills

  • 14+ years professional experience in systems engineering or architectural integration, with demonstrated expertise in aligning multidisciplinary concepts across program lifecycles
  • Experience with system interfaces, data flows, and infrastructure components as they relate to integrated architectural frameworks and stakeholder requirements
  • Proficiency with modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler or Enterprise Architecture platforms to conceptualize, integrate, and visualize system constructs across functional, logical, and physical dimensions
  • Cybersecurity credentials (e.g., CSSP, Security+) are a plus, reflecting understanding of security integration into architecture
  • Strong understanding of security principles and how to map them across architectural layers and integrated system components
  • Experience with large-scale, data-intensive systems and platforms, focused on integration and interoperability within broader architectural contexts
  • Experience applying access policies and governance constructs across diverse system environments, including classified contexts, ensuring alignment with security and integration requirements
  • Proven experience presenting architectural concepts and integration roadmaps at customer and senior stakeholder reviews
  • Experience serving as an architecture stakeholder on Agile teams, driving integrated solution development and iterative delivery
  • Broad understanding of DoD/Aerospace business and engineering subject areas to inform integrated architectural decisions
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate clearly – verbally, textually and graphically – to technical and non-technical partners at the Director level and below
  • Understanding of system resilience, backup, and recovery planning within integrated architectural frameworks
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation tools supporting architectural decision-making in classified contexts
  • Experience with master data or reference data management constructs as they relate to integrated system landscapes and governance
  • Familiarity with data cataloging and business glossary tools to support architectural consistency and cross-stakeholder understanding
  • Current LM Systems Architect certification, at the Qualified level or higher
  • Active Top Secret clearance
