Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to drive the technical lifecycle, requirements verification, and customer delivery of our software-intensive systems. In this role, you will act as the primary technical interface between our engineering teams and the customer. You will focus heavily on managing engineering timelines, resolving system deficiencies, and coordinating formal program deliverables.
Your primary focus will be on execution, workflow management via Jira/Confluence, and customer delivery. Additionally, familiarity with writing and reading Python is required so you can understand system interfaces and effectively bridge the gap between customer requirements and software development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- CDRL & Lifecycle Management: Lead the preparation, tracking, and formal delivery of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and engineering artifacts across major program milestones
- Deficiency & Workflow Tracking: Manage Deficiency Reports (DRs), technical anomalies, and execution timelines leveraging Jira and Confluence to keep developers and stakeholders aligned.
- Customer Interface & Demos: Serve as a key technical point of contact for the customer, planning and executing formal software solution demonstrations, technical reviews, and user evaluations.
- Interface & Code Literacy: Read, understand, and occasionally write scripts to analyze software data, or evaluate interface specifications
- Architecture Support: Maintain a working familiarity with Cameo Systems Modeler to reference system models, update basic interface definitions, and ensure alignment with the overall system design.
Basic Qualifications
- B.S. in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical field.
- Systems engineering experience within the Defense / Aerospace industry.
- Program Management Tools: Expert-level familiarity with Jira and Confluence for tracking deliverables, requirements, and deficiency resolution schedules.
- Software Literacy: Practical familiarity with Python with the ability to review code, understand system/software interfaces, and collaborate closely with software developers.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with proven experience leading technical presentations and solution demos for government customers.
Desired Skills
- Experience mapping formal requirements to software test cases or verification matrices.
- High-Performance Computing: Experience or familiarity with C++ architectures and GPU-accelerated computing (e.g., CUDA processing) to better understand high-throughput data pipelines and hardware/software boundaries.
