Systems Integration/Test Engineer Sr - E3 (Weekend)
Description
Standard Job Description
Shift & Schedule:
- 1st‑shift (Friday – Monday) with every other Friday off.
- Ability to train Monday-Friday during OJT period. Role transitions to the shift schedule listed above once competencies are demonstrated. Timeframe dependent on existing skill set and certifications.
Role Overview
The Test Engineer will be responsible for end‑to‑end support of high‑power electrical testing and environmental testing (thermal and thermal‑vacuum) of RF and antenna related sub‑assemblies in production test. Duties include test preparation, execution, troubleshooting, data acquisition, and post‑test analysis/closeout across multiple programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and execute test plans, procedures, and equipment checkouts for high‑power RF systems and thermal/TVAC test activities.
- Set up and calibrate test equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, programmable loads, power supplies, and RF‑measurement test configurations.
- Oversee operation of thermal chambers, thermal‑vacuum chambers, and cryogenic systems.
- Setup data acquisition systems for environmental testing.
- Perform test closeout activities such as analyzing results, generating reports, and archiving data per program requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, or procedural failures; coordinate corrective actions with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Contribute to continuous‑improvement efforts through process improvements, test efficiency opportunities, and lab organization.
Plans, implements, tests, documents, and maintains solutions for the integration and testing of in-house developed and COTS/GOTS components, elements, subsystems and/or systems. Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Establishes functional and technical specifications and standards, solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem. Reviews, evaluates and derives requirements for testability, develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for complete systems and/or subsystems. Coordinates subsystem and/or system testing activities with programs and other organizations. Performs analysis of test results and prepares comprehensive subsystem and/or system level evaluation reports which verify and validate system performance. Writes discrepancy reports and performs integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems and systems.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely‑related field.
- Previous experience and familiarity with high‑power RF test equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, programmable loads, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience conducting thermal and thermal‑vacuum testing, with familiarity of environmental‑test hardware (thermocouples, vacuum chambers, ion gauges).
- Must be a United States citizen with the ability to obtain and retain a secret security clearance.
Desired Skills
- Experience operating and maintaining thermal chambers, thermal vacuum chambers, and cryogenic systems.
- Proficiency in NI‑LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or comparable data‑acquisition and analysis platforms.
- Practical knowledge of RF performance measurements such as return‑loss, multipaction, S‑parameters, and related test methodologies.
- Familiarity with internally developed DAS thermal data acquisition systems.
- Active secret security clearance.
