Description
Are you an innovative leader that wants to lead the cross-functional design and deployment of innovative solutions into our world-class existing fulfillment centers and logistics systems? Do you want to take ownership of solving the industry’s most complex problems? Does the challenge of designing and implementing ground breaking solutions for automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing appeal to you? If you’re looking to be challenged in a fast paced and often ambiguous environment, and you have strong technical problem solving and project management skills, then this job is for you!
Amazon is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Technical Program Manager who is able to collaborate effectively with internal and external technical teams and be responsible for the design, development and deployment of our material handling systems across multiple building types. The role primarily focuses on the Technical Program Management of integrating systems and devices and delivering turnkey deployable solutions to be delivered in the field.
In this role you will be responsible for working with internal customers to define highly ambiguous problem statements, influencing a global Amazon MHE sourcing and integration strategy, writing technical specifications and performing technical evaluations on equipment, generating multiyear budgets, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing multiple large, high visibility programs simultaneously through the project lifecycle.
This person will possess a strong engineering and program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current MHE technologies and storage solutions. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an innovative environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in, and get the job done.
This role requires 50% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.
Key job responsibilities

- Contribute to Amazon's MHE sourcing and integration strategy by evaluating vendor capabilities, performing technical assessments, and generating data-driven recommendations
- Understand product integration requirements across mechanical, electrical, and controls functions at a systems level
- Critique and debate technical designs, assess viability of proposed solutions, and help engineering teams make appropriate trade-offs considering business goals, throughput, quality, maintainability, and operability
- Drive project schedules from design through release, managing dependencies and risks across internal and external stakeholders
- Generate multiyear budgets and track program financials
Identify engineering standards and drive consistent application of changes across North America
- Synthesize complex technical and business inputs into clear documentation and specifications

- Maintain and optimize operational mechanisms in Smartsheet and Slack to support team workflows
A day in the life
Global Engineering Services (GES) North America (NA) Technical Vendor Management operates at the intersection of engineering execution and vendor partnership across North America. A day in the life may involve leading a weekly business review with a general contractor, reviewing scorecard data to identify systemic performance patterns, conducting a strategic planning session with your team leads, or presenting portfolio risk assessments to GES leadership. You will engage with vendor executives, coordinate with GPO on sourcing decisions, align with TVM counterparts, and drive cross-portfolio intelligence that no single project team can see. GES NA Technical Vendor Management is highly collaborative, working daily to make vendor performance consequential, vendor relationships strategic, and Amazon’s construction supply base stronger every year.
About the team
The Technical Vendor Management (TVM) organization is an engineering and performance-focused function within NA GES, consisting of five pillars: TVM MHE Vendor Management, TVM MHE Vendor Development, TVM MHE Components, Construction Contracts, and Technical Vendor Management, Construction. We manage the full project lifecycle of Amazon’s vendor relationships for general contractors and specialty subcontractors—from qualification through active project execution, performance accountability, and continuous improvement. Technical Vendor Management exists because vendor performance directly impacts whether Amazon’s network launches on time, on budget, and at the quality level operations require. With our team, vendor performance improves year over year because we make it consequential. We build strategic relationships that unlock decisions site-level teams cannot reach, see patterns across the portfolio that no single project can see, and act on them before they repeat.
