Veterinarian- Westonka Animal Hospital-Mound MN
Description
Additional Hospital Information & Who We are Looking For:
Associate Veterinarian – Westonka Animal Hospital
Full-Time | Lake Minnetonka / Mound, MN
• Interest In: Practicing high-quality, comprehensive small-animal general practice within an AAHA-Accredited + Gold Cat Friendly Practice, where you'll have the team, resources, and case variety to continue growing throughout your career. Westonka Animal Hospital offers a well-rounded mix of wellness and preventative medicine, internal medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, senior care, pain management, chronic disease management, client education, and same-day/urgent cases.
Whether you love the relationships and continuity of everyday GP, want to become more confident in surgery and dentistry, enjoy working through interesting medical cases, or simply want to become an exceptionally well-rounded veterinarian, there's room to build your career around the medicine you enjoy most.
• Open to New Graduates or Experienced Veterinarians: We're excited to welcome either a new graduate looking for the right place to build a strong clinical foundation or an experienced veterinarian looking for a collaborative, established hospital where they can practice with autonomy and continue growing.
You'll be joining an established veterinary team where collaboration, case discussion, and shared medical knowledge are valued.
You won't be expected to practice medicine on an island here.
• New Graduate Mentorship – Build Confidence the Right Way: New graduates will benefit from our structured, one-year New Graduate Mentorship Program, including a dedicated Clinical Mentor, intentional schedule overlap, regular mentor meetings, goal-setting, virtual learning opportunities, and coaching around client communication and professional development.
You'll also have access to our 5-day Surgical Mentorship Program, offered year-round in a small-group environment where participants typically complete approximately 20–40 surgeries, as well as a 2-day Dental Wet Lab led by our veterinary dental specialist and designed to build confidence in everyday dentistry.
Pair that structured mentorship with an established hospital environment and a broad GP caseload, and you have an excellent place to develop your clinical judgment while progressively becoming more independent.
• Experienced Veterinarians: Experienced doctors will find the clinical autonomy to practice high-quality medicine while still having a collaborative team around them. Westonka's broad caseload creates room to pursue individual interests in areas such as surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, diagnostics, senior medicine, or urgent care.
In addition to generous CE support, you'll have access to our Clinical Tracks Program, offering complimentary RACE-approved CE facilitated by veterinary specialists within our network.
Have a special interest? Let's talk about how we can help make it a larger part of your everyday practice.
• More Than Routine GP – Surgery & Interesting Cases: For veterinarians who enjoy surgery or want to continue developing their procedural skills, Westonka offers exposure beyond routine spays and neuters. The hospital performs laser surgery, growth removals, emergency wound and laceration repair, splenectomies, intestinal foreign-body procedures, and other advanced surgeries, creating opportunities to continue developing procedural and surgical confidence.
• AAHA-Accredited + Gold Cat Friendly Practice: Westonka is both an AAHA-accredited hospital and a Gold-level Cat Friendly Certified Practice, reflecting an intentional commitment to high standards of medicine and a lower-stress experience for patients.
The hospital incorporates thoughtful dog and cat handling and has Fear Free professionals on staff, creating an environment where patient comfort isn't treated as an afterthought.
For a new veterinarian, it's an excellent setting to establish strong clinical habits from the beginning. For an experienced doctor, it means joining a hospital where quality medicine and thoughtful patient care are already part of the culture.
• Supportive, Experienced Veterinary Team: Work alongside experienced veterinary professionals who value communication, teamwork, and high-quality patient care. A strong support structure allows doctors to focus their time where it's most valuable diagnosing, treating, performing procedures, communicating with clients, and practicing medicine.
• Facility & Clinical Capabilities: Westonka is a full-service hospital equipped to support both comprehensive everyday medicine and more involved medical and surgical cases. Clinical capabilities include on-site laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, dentistry, advanced anesthetic monitoring, laser surgery, surgical services, and urgent care capabilities.
The hospital's surgical monitoring includes pulse oximetry, respiratory monitoring, EKG, temperature monitoring, and oxygen support, with individualized anesthesia and multimodal pain-management protocols. For our doctors, that means having the resources around you to work up your cases thoughtfully and practice the quality of medicine you want to provide.
• Patient Mix: Enjoy a comprehensive dog and cat caseload ranging from puppies and kittens through senior pets. Your days can include wellness and preventative care, dentistry, diagnostic workups, chronic disease management, surgery, internal medicine, senior care, and same-day or urgent presentations, providing enough variety to keep everyday practice interesting.
