Experienced Veterinary Assistant – Saturday Urgent Care

Pay: $20–$23 per hour + $5/hour Saturday differential

Looking for a veterinary position that lets you use your clinical skills without committing to a full-time schedule? Lisbon Road Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Saturday urgent care team!

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who enjoys a fast-paced environment and wants a change of pace from traditional general practice. You'll help care for patients who need prompt medical attention while working alongside a supportive, experienced medical team.

The best part? We're looking for coverage just 1–2 Saturdays per month. You do not have to commit to every Saturday!

Schedule & Compensation

• Saturdays only

• Hospital hours: 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

• Approximately 1–2 Saturdays per month

• Additional Saturday differential: $5 per hour

• No commitment to work every Saturday

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency in IV catheter placement and venipuncture

• Experience with anesthesia induction and surgical monitoring

• Confidence with surgical patient recovery

• Ability to prioritize cases and assist with patient triage

• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

• A calm, proactive approach to patient care in a busy environment

Your Impact as an Urgent Care Veterinary Assistant

• Be a Critical Support in Urgent Situations: You'll be an essential part of the medical team, directly assisting veterinarians and technicians with hands-on patient care in a fast-paced environment.
• Ensure a Seamless Workflow During a Crisis: Your ability to anticipate needs and maintain composure will be key to keeping the clinic running efficiently, even during a medical emergency.
• Provide a Calming Presence for Clients: You'll be a reassuring point of contact for worried pet owners, assisting with check-ins, payments, and communications with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain High Standards Under Pressure: You'll uphold our commitment to excellence by ensuring accurate record-keeping and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment at all times.

What You'll Bring to the Team

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience, with ER or high-volume experience preferred.
• The ability to stay calm, composed, and efficient during a medical crisis.
• Confidence and skill in handling pets, with proficiency in basic laboratory, pharmacy, and nursing skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
• A flexible schedule, with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
