Portland Public Schools Wayfinders Teacher (Part-Time, After School) – Positions at Rowe and Talbot [INTERNAL ONLY]
Description
TITLE: Wayfinders Teacher (Part-Time, After School) – Positions at Rowe and Talbot
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Wayfinders program is a 21st Century CLC grant-funded initiative hosted at Gerald E. Talbot Community School and Amanda C. Rowe Elementary School. The program primarily serves academically eligible 2nd through 5th-grade students from both schools. In partnership with Maine Audubon, we are building a curriculum that engages students in STEM and nature through hands-on experiences. Beyond science, we integrate literacy, social-emotional growth, youth leadership, nutrition, outdoor recreation, and the arts to provide a well-rounded out-of-school time experience. In its initial year, our goal is to provide outstanding programming for 80+ students.
The program will run Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri from September to May. Talbot hours will be 2:10-4:10 pm and Rowe hours will be Rowe: 3:30-5:30 pm. Our goal for the 26-27 school year is to have 2 classrooms of 20 students at each school. Each school will have a team made up of 1 Teaching Site Coordinator, 1 Teacher, 1 Ed Tech, and 1 Maine Audubon Educator.
