Founded in 2011, our original team of four has grown into a collective of creators, engineers, and educators. Since the beginning, our goals have been pretty simple: build high quality software, create teams that have the freedom to learn, teach, and explore, and give every team member visibility and a voice. Everyone at Detroit Labs is invested in and is a part of our own success. That creates an organic and foundational sense of cohesion that is impossible to fake.

Building beautiful software and creating teams are essential to who we are. We're opportunists who look forward to whatever design or business challenge our clients bring to the table.

Apart from project work, our passion for people extends to our Apprenticeship Program. During the program, we teach, support, and guide the next generation of software developers.

We’re ambitious, friendly, dedicated, and we’re hiring!

If you’re more interested in working in a corporate setting in our client offices, we also have our unique OnSite business unit, which extends our expertise, skill, and passion outside of our headquarters. Learn more and apply for OnSite.

Be Autonomous

In other words, we’re free of kings and micromanagers. Our team members are self-directed and own their projects. We trust everyone to get their work done, no matter how they choose to get there.

Build Diverse Projects

We’ve created beautiful apps for clients ranging from small startups to Fortune 50 companies--many of them local to Detroit. You get to work with emerging technologies to solve a variety of challenging problems.

Work With Top-notch People

If it hasn’t been said already: we value our people. Detroit Labs is filled with the smartest, most self-motivated, creative individuals, so that you never stop learning and building. Great people make for a great culture.

Be the Change

Established only in 2011, Detroit Labs is still a young company. We care deeply about the caliber of people we bring on because each one helps shape who we are. You influence the direction we take.

Do Great Things

We develop mobile apps, but we’re also makers (and builders, authors, artists, and hackers). On any given day, you could be building a robot in our hardware lab, or huddled over an app that’ll be touched by thousands of users. We take joy in constant creation.
