Who we are

Since 1786, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has helped Western Pennsylvania understand itself, as well as its neighborhoods, institutions, challenges, wins, losses, debates, culture and people. It is a media organization fueled by resiliency and a commitment to reliable reporting that is essential to the Pittsburgh region.

Now as part of the Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism, a nonprofit digital media organization that also owns The Banner, the Post-Gazette is entering a new chapter.

Our talent mission

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette exists to serve the people of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania with journalism that is independent, trustworthy, useful and deeply connected to the community.

We believe local journalism is more than reporting the news. It is a civic responsibility. It helps residents make informed decisions, holds powerful institutions accountable, celebrates the life of a region, and creates shared understanding in moments of change.

We are building a culture where talented people can do meaningful work, grow their careers and contribute to a mission that matters.

Why join us now?

This is a rare opportunity to help reimagine one of the nation’s oldest and historic local news institutions for a new era.

The Post-Gazette has a powerful legacy. It also has a future to build. One that will require creativity, urgency, collaboration and courage. We are bringing together journalists, product thinkers and designers, audience experts, technicians, digital sales leaders, growth marketers, and community-minded professionals who want to help create a stronger, sustainable model for local journalism.

We are looking for people who are energized by transformation. People who want to solve hard problems. People who believe Pittsburgh deserves ambitious, high-quality news coverage that reflects the full life of the region.

Here, your ideas matter. Your voice matters. Your work matters.
