The Role
As our Senior Procurement Specialist – Large-Scale Productions, you will lead end-to-end purchasing and supplier operations for a world-class, large-scale production in Madrid. This is far from a standard desk-bound procurement role; it is a high-stakes, fast-moving position that balances rigorous commercial negotiation with hands-on, real-time problem-solving in the field.
You will manage the entire supply chain and operational services ecosystem required to build a city-scale temporary infrastructure: overlay, grandstands, hosting staffing, heavy machinery, power generation, audiovisual setups, waste management, security, and crowd logistics.
Critical On-Site Requirement:
This role demands a strong field presence. During key operational phases—specifically the build-up months, live event execution, and tear-down windows—you will be required to be 100% on-site in Madrid. You must thrive in high-pressure, live environments where quick decision-making, rapid contractor troubleshooting, and operational agility are vital to protecting the timeline and budget.
- Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership: Design and execute the full procurement strategy across all operational production packages (temporary infrastructure/overlay, primary power, staging, AV, site services, plant hire, perimeter security).
- High-Stakes Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for high-value supplier agreements, master service contracts, and critical scope variations. Drive maximum value while securing strict SLAs, performance penalties, safety standards, and non-negotiable delivery milestones.
- On-Site Operational Delivery & Supplier Supervision: Serve as the procurement anchor on the ground. Support the Production and Ops team in supervising contractors directly during site mobilization, construction, live show days, and strike. Resolve scope gaps, supply bottlenecks and vendor defaults in real time with decisive agility.
- Vendor Ecosystem & Performance Management: Qualify, onboard, and continuously evaluate a vast network of tier-1 international providers and specialized local suppliers. Ensure strict compliance with Spanish labor regulations, municipal permits, safety protocols, and occupational health standards (PRL).
- Budget Ownership & Real-Time Cost Control: Partner closely with Production Directors, Site Managers, and Finance to control CapEx and OpEx. Monitor spend continuously, manage contingency allocations, and audit contractor deliverables prior to approving milestone payments.
- Risk Mitigation & Emergency Procurement: Anticipate supply chain bottlenecks and critical-path risks. Maintain ready-to-deploy contingency plans for emergency procurement, replacement plant/machinery, and rapid-response labor during live operations.
Who You Are
- 6+ years of experience in procurement, category management, or a related field, including proven experience managing and developing a team.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic procurement, category management, and supplier contract negotiation within complex, fast-paced industries.
- Live Production & Mega-Event Background: Proven track record in high-complexity, large-scale live productions. Direct procurement experience in international sports competitions, massive music festivals, large-scale touring productions, or complex outdoor infrastructure
- builds is strongly preferred.
- Proven On-Site Delivery: Demonstrated experience managing suppliers directly in physical production environments (active construction sites, industrial yards, live crowd operations). You understand site dynamics and speak the language of technical directors, site managers, and field crews.
- Operational Agility & Decision-Making: Ability to absorb pressure, triage issues on the fly, and execute rapid commercial decisions without causing operational delays.
- Contractual & Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of temporary overlay contracts, equipment leasing frameworks, turnkey production scopes, and dispute management under tight deadlines.
- Regulatory & Market Knowledge: Strong network within the Spanish and European event supplier markets, alongside working knowledge of public safety standards, local permitting, and site compliance.
- Language Skills: Professional proficiency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken) is required to collaborate with international partners, global stakeholders, and local authorities.
- Availability & Resilience: Willingness to work fully on-site during critical site setup, event days, and breakdown periods.
